What makes the Mega Drive library special?

The Mega Drive was closely associated with Sega’s arcade style, and that influence can be seen in many of its best games. Fast action, powerful music and experiences designed to grab your attention from the first few minutes are all part of its identity.

At the same time, its library was much broader than is sometimes remembered. RPGs such as Phantasy Star IV and Shining Force II existed alongside platformers, shoot ’em ups, sports games, racing games and some visually experimental titles.

That variety makes the Mega Drive a very interesting console to discover even today, especially for anyone who wants to explore one of the most important eras in Sega’s history.
